Almost al my book are cover buys but this particular one was so pretty that I picked it up immediately and went to the checkout line. Didn’t even realise it was part of a series. Sigh. now I have to get the previous book(s).
We all need diversity in books and I for one am tired of reading about middle aged white male protagonists who have absolutely no problems yet think they are heroes with the weight of the world upon them. So enter the DiverseBookBloggers hashtag. I’ve been enjoying the conversations happening on twitter with other Diverse bloggers and the lovely Nazahet from Read Diverse books.
Femme Friday was started here on Books And Strips when I realised that even the literary world doesn’t credit women as much as they should. In a bid to equalise my reading as well I started this weekly meme to ensure that I read / interview / notice atleast one or more awesome women in the bookish world. You can read about it here.
So I was feeling sad about my Ophthalmologist’s announcement about me having to permanently wear glasses when I got back home to see (almost, I hadn’t gotten them yet) this tag from Emma (Thanks for tagging me)! I waited patiently to get my glasses and I’m not sitting and typing away.
